A bride and groom embrace in the forest surrounded by trees. The groom faces her, he has his arm around her waist and smiles.

"I can't stop looking at it."

Words like this are the reason I love this job so much.

Zoë & Dominic

Sussex, August 2025

A chance meeting via msn. When a girl is trying to reach a friend overseas at university but inadvertently starts talking to the flatmate...

16 YEARS LATER...

This one's a bit different, the groom is my brother and the bride my beautiful sister in law. As it turns out it takes all of the concentration you have to fight happy tears and take good photographs at the same time...who knew?

The story of how Dom & Zoë 's beautiful forest wedding came to be actually starts in a completely different country. Having originally planned to tie the knot in Canada against the stunning backdrop of Emerald Lake, circumstances beyond their control resulted in them having to make the difficult decision to cancel the wedding of their dreams and reorganise things closer to home. It was then on a chance birthday trip in Tunbridge Wells that they came across the beautiful wedding venue that is Bower in the Wood.

BOWER IN THE WOOD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Nestled in the leafy forest of Ticehurst Sussex, Bower in the Wood has everything a fairytale wedding venue should have. A beautiful outdoor space in which to celebrate your marriage surrounded by nature, family and friends. With its lightbulb lit walks, winding bark tables smothered in ferns and stunning china dinner service Bower in the Wood is nothing short of a woodland wonderland. The child in me half expected little pixies to jump out at any moment or there to be tiny fairies buzzing around in the undergrowth.. It was exactly what Dom & Zoë had been looking for...they'd found their place and the date was re-set.

BRIDE IN THE BATH...HELL YES!

Zoë got ready at a beautiful nearby Air B&B surrounded by her family who had made the journey across from Omagh Northern Ireland. The house had a gorgeous roll top bath which we knew straight away had to feature in the photographs. Bride in the bath photos?...ABSOLUTELY!! This was probably the moment which had me the most choked up, seeing my beautiful sister in law in her Dama Couture dress for the first time. With its billowing sleeves, caped shoulders and intricate lace detail she looked like a modern day Maid Marion.

SUSSEX WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

The day went without a hitch and was personal to the bride and groom in every way. A Ceilidh band played whilst guests mingled, drank from tankards and nibbled on the delicious wedding grazing table. A caricaturist captured the guests in the most unflattering way possible much to everyone's amusement and personalised Pokémon or "ZoDomon" cards were the wedding favour of choice. Each one with a hilarious and cheeky summary of the guest in question. Combine this with festival games, portrait drawing and delicious ice cream served by Indulgent Ice Creams not even the rain showers could dampen anyones spirits.

"OMG Gabriel, I have no words!!! These are absolutely stunning. Thank you so so much."

With every wedding I capture I am fortunate enough to witness joy and love in abundance as people come together to celebrate the happy couple. I often get a little tear in my eye when I shoot the brides first look or when I hear the speeches, even though I am in work mode the fact that I am lucky enough to witness such an intimate and emotional moment is never lost on me.

This wedding was exceptionally personal, many of the guests were my loved ones and so the feelings were amplified a hundred times over. Not only did I feel lucky but also proud, to see the man my brother has become and the life he has carved for himself with his wonderful new wife. They may have had to adjust their plans but this day didn't feel like a compromise in any way. It felt perfect for them because it was, yes the trajectory shifted but it lead them down a magical fairy lit path and into the forest.

Signing off with a full heart
